Solestry: The Art of Reading Feet

You’ve Heard of Palmistry… But Did You Know Solestry Exists?

Most people have heard of palmistry: the ancient practice of reading the lines on a person’s hands. But did you know there is also something called solestry?

Yes, the art of reading feet.

Solestry looks at the lines on the soles, the length and shape of the toes, and even the spaces between them to reveal insights about personality, tendencies, and life paths. Until a few days ago, I had never heard of it either.

That changed when Olivia (u/PendandDragons) shared her new subreddit, r/SolestrybyOlivia, in another reddit community where I’m active. Curious, I started lurking for a few days, reading through the interpretations she gave to people who posted their feet for analysis. The readings were thoughtful and detailed, and it was fascinating to see how much she claimed could be interpreted from something as ordinary as a pair of feet.

Then I decided to ask a question that had been on my mind for years.

And yes, it’s going to sound a little awkward.

For nearly twenty years, I’ve occasionally developed a corn about an inch below my little toe. On both feet at the same time. Whenever it appears, I always assume the same thing: those sneakers again. I’ll take out my rasp, buy a special cream, and start the ritual of trying to remove the stubborn things every ten days or so until they finally disappear.

Usually, after a while, they do.

But this time was different.

The last time these little monsters appeared was about three years ago. The one on my left foot eventually vanished after several attempts at removal. The one on my right foot, however, refused to leave. No matter what I did, it simply stayed.

That’s when a strange thought crossed my mind: if solestry is really a thing, maybe that corn has some sort of symbolic meaning.

So I did the brave thing and asked the awkward question.

At first I didn’t include a photo, but Olivia was so friendly and welcoming that I quickly felt comfortable sharing one when she asked. She gave me a full reading, and honestly, it surprised me.

She didn’t ask for my birthday. She didn’t use the kind of information that would normally come up in astrology or a horoscope. The insights she gave were completely different, yet they felt uncannily accurate. Some of the things she mentioned were deeply personal, and there was no obvious way she could have known them.

It was unexpected, thoughtful, and genuinely fascinating.

Because the reading itself touched on some personal topics, I’m not going to share the details here. I hope you’ll forgive me for keeping that part private. But I did want to share the experience and point people toward Olivia’s work.

I only discovered this practice a few days ago, so I can’t claim to teach you much about it yet. But if you enjoy unusual spiritual traditions and symbolic systems, it’s definitely an intriguing rabbit hole to explore.

And who knows, maybe the story your feet are telling is more interesting than you think.

Enjoy exploring!
